Swag Bags, Dinner Plans, & More!

July 26, 2009 · Leave a Comment

HEY!

We wanted to give you the scoop – and while some of it will appear in the church bulletin, the details are always (well, mostly!) up to date online!

SWAG BAGS :: Support a Student! :: $87
Student “Swag Bags” are small totes we provide for each student, containing a variety of critical supplies for their year of Biblical studies!  Swag Bags can be purchased in whole by an individual or family OR can be sponsored by several individuals/families who pool their monies together for the effort. Why are they so much? Here’s why: each bag contains the student’s wide-margin study Bible, our student handbook & syllabus, a GCBI tee-shirt and water bottle, as well as various school supplies and personal items like bandaids & ibuprofen! We would also like to include notes of encouragement from those who sponsor a student – so get out your stationery!  For questions or to help purchase one of these bags, call or email Cam & Sarah Beth (info at gcbi dot com or 414.1010) – make sure to include name and contact information!

DINNER PLANS :: Feed the Hungry! :: $$
One of the fantastic changes we’ve made this year is in regard to the student meal plan – and we believe this change will make a difference both in our group’s ability to minister effectively in the community and in their capacity to build relationships with the local church.  First, we’d like to set all dinners (as close as we can get) to 6pm – this consistency will help the students manage their time well and create a healthy consistency in their schedules!  Tuesday and Thursday evenings after class time, we are looking for families to host dinner in their home for the group of 6-8.  On Wednesday and Friday evenings, after full days of study, ministry, work, etc., we are looking for families to bring dinner to the Institute so that students can enjoy a few evenings home before they are off to events & discipleship opportunities in the community.  If you’re interested in hosting a dinner in your home or bringing dinner in, please contact us! We want to get the calendar up and running ASAP!

The Bible Experience :: August 24-31
We will be “sequestering” our new class for an intense, 8-day Bible Experience, during which time we will be reading through the entire Bible, cover to cover!  We have an intense biblical reading schedule set forth and we ask that you pray for clarity, for preparation, that as our students read through the Bible their eyes & hearts will be readied for the year of study, and finally, pray for protection from temptation, from negative attitudes, from physical, emotional & spiritual attack.  We desire the Lord to use this time as a powerful introduction to His Word and His heart for these students and for us!

Carry-In Dinner! :: August 19 :: 7pm
Speaking of “feeding the hungry”, Grace Church of Sebring will be hosting a carry-in Celebration Dinner in Wiley Hall to welcome and celebrate the new group of GCBI students!  You know what this means, folks…start baking! We’ll be setting up at 6pm, so dishes and serving utensils can be brought to Wiley Hall that early – please make sure to mark your wares so you get all your dishes back!  We’ll be introducing the new class, doing a bit of GCBI trivia, and enjoying good food with friends and family!  Any questions?  Call us!

GCBI Class of 2010!

July 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

We have been excitedly recruiting since the end of May and we are pleased to introduce the first two “official” GCBI students: Tim Pearson and Devon Foxx!  Both young men are from the Sebring community and have expressed a desire to grow in understanding of God’s Word in order to be disciple-makers.  We’re looking forward to introducing you to more of this year’s group in the coming weeks.  Continue to pray with us that the Lord would bring us the right students for the program at the right time – we desire nothing but His best for this program, for these students, and for our community.
